Because this was her first movie, the media had swarmed the theater waiting anxiously to meet Song. As she stepped onto the stage, bulbs flashed wildly and the audience erupted in applause, welcoming Song Hye-gyo to her silver screen viewing.
Luckily for Song Hye-gyo, she had talented Cha Tae-hyun as her co-star - An actor from the 2001 Asia-wide hit movie, "My Sassy Girl". The two leads, both the same age, boasted an excellent on-camera chemistry.
Everyone's been through the joy and heartache of their life's first love, and the film, "My Girl and I" portrays such an experience.
Despite their true ages, Song Hye-gyo and Cha Tae-hyun were more than convincing in their portraits of the film's high-school characters.
They dug up past memories to perfect' the scene of their characters' first kiss. And it gave the kiss the per'fect effect!
Song Hye-gyo! The name itself is recognized in many Asian nations. Her role in the TV drama, "Autumn Fairytale", is well-remembered, as is her character in "Hotelier". She acted with the best of Korea's actors.
Although the TV dramas were viewed some time ago, the interest in them have not faltered.
With that in mind, here are some dramas that she must have REALLY liked, because their success was incredible!
The TV drama, "All-In", starring Song with actor Lee Byung-hun. It was a hit, but the popularity did not compare to that of her next drama, "Full House" with singer and actor Rain. Song Hye-gyo became an idol.
No one would argue that Song Hye-gyo is an attractive actress, but the adoration from fans of all ages comes from the natural charm that she exudes. Whether it's on-screen or in person.
With the kind of popularity that Song enjoys, she has become a favorite to cast in ads and commercials for Korea's brand-name companies. She has the world of television under her spell and very soon, perhaps the silver screen, as well!
The film that everyone's can't wait for, "My Girl and I"! Already it's been quick to sell in the overseas market. If you're a fan of Song Hye-gyo, you won't want to miss it.

Song Hye-go, Hyun Bin Star in New KBS Drama Series
Popular Korean actress Song Hye-gyo will be returning to TV for the first time in four years. During a recent interview, the actress, who was recently cast in the new KBS drama series "A World of Their Own," said although she doesn't give too much thought to viewer ratings, she is starting to feel the pressure as the first episode's airing date draws near. Song added that her co-star Hyun Bin tried his best to calm down her nerves by telling her that there are good times and bad times and that she shouldn't care too much about the viewer ratings. "Full House" and "My Sweet Samsoon," the two sensationally popular drama series that the two actors most recently starred in, posted average viewer ratings of 30% and 50%, respectively. Naturally, expectations are running high for the brand new drama series starring two of the most popular actors of their generation. However, tough competition is expected as "East of Eden," a high-profile MBC drama series, has been posting high average viewer ratings of 20% to 30%. Song says the script is easy to relate to and highly entertaining, and that the viewers will definitely be drawn into the story.
Song Hye-kyo Returns to Small Screen
Korean dramas are full of entertainment, with cliched yet dramatic plots, cute and handsome male characters, both main and supporting, and always a young pretty heroine. Among these heroines is Song Hye-kyo, 26, who will appear in the new drama ``Worlds Within.'' She returns to the small screen for the first time in four years after her hit series ``Full House'' with top singer/actor Rain. ``For the past four years, I have been working on three films and so I was more accustomed to the movie filming atmosphere. TV dramas require quick reactions and with help from the director, I'm now back on track,'' Song said at a press conference of the program Monday at a hotel in Seoul. The makers of the drama also made headlines, as the producer Pyo Min-soo, who brought ``Full House,'' and writer Noh Hee-kyeong have teamed up. It is the first time in six years for the makers to get together for a program. Despite criticism that large-scale dramas lack depth in both plot and charm, Pyo said the series will be bigger than any program he has worked on. ``I'm trying to bring reality to the drama making process which takes place within ``Worlds Within.'' The scale has become larger than before, and to be frank, I was worried if I could manage it all,'' he said. But Pyo assured that he will try to show even the smallest details of the daily lives of producers. Song plays Joo Jun-young, a producer working her way in the male dominated world of drama creators. Actor Hyun Bin will play her mentor, who makes Joo's character's life miserable at first, but later discovers his affection toward the hard-working and passionate newcomer. ``My character is much like a tomboy. I try to portray the look by being as natural as possible, but I don't try too hard by getting messy. It's the most realistic character I've done in my career,'' said Song. The actress has indeed played various roles, from a dying patient and poker dealer to a silly student. Song made her debut as a model, becoming the winner of a school uniform model competition at the age of 14. She then played the character of a cute and clumsy student in the hit sitcom ``Sunpung'' (1998), but failed to make a lasting impression among fans. Song finally made it big starring in ``Autumn Fairy Tale'' with Song Seung-heon in 2000 and ``All In'' with Lee Byeng-hun in 2003. The dramas' popularity soared not only in Korea, but also abroad including Japan, Taiwan and Europe, and Song finally became one of ``Korea's sweethearts.'' However, she failed to bring her charm to the big screen with her first movie ``My Girl and I''. Song continued her journey in the movie industry with the historical film ``Hwang Jin-yi.'' She recently acted in the American indie movie ``Make Yourself at Home'' and finally, John Woo's upcoming movie ``1949'' along with Taiwanese actor Chang Chen. ``The dramas that I worked on were successful, but not the movies. I still have many opportunities, and I will not be discouraged. I think actors grow as they taste failure and so I don't have any fears about the drama not becoming popular,'' she said.
Two Korean hit dramas will be produced as films
The Korean drama Winter Sonata, which helped spur the popularity of Korean pop culture in Asia, the phenomenon known as Hallyu, will be made into a movie, along with another hit drama, Autumn in My Heart. Korean production company Culture Cap Media, which currently holds film rights to the hit TV drama, said it sealed a deal with investment management company Kara & Rich Holdings Korea and Japanese film development and finance company Entertainment Farm to produce a film based on mega hit TV drama series Winter Sonata. Culture Cap Media will handle the production process, while Entertainment Farm will be involved as an investor. The casting for leading roles has not been decided, but Culture Cap Media says the two stars of Winter Sonata, Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo, will not be participating in the movie adaptation and new faces will be chosen to add a fresh new feel to the film. After production is complete, the involved companies will start producing Autumn in My Heart as well. Winter Sonata and Autumn in my heart have drawn a large audience in East Asian countries, including Japan. Song Seung-heon and Song Hye-gyo, who played the leading roles in Autumn in My Heart, and Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo, the two stars of Winter Sonata, have also been very popular across Asia.
Song Hye-kyo Teams Up with Michelle Yeoh
Hallyu star Song Hye-kyo teams up with Michelle Yeoh from "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Memories of a Geisha" fame to target the Asian public. According to the film magazine "Variety," Song recently signed a contract with Stella Entertainment, located near Taiwan, for her work overseas. Stella Entertainment was established by Yeoh, Terrance Chang (who produced "Mission: Impossible 2" and "Face-Off") and entertainment agent David Tang. Variety magazine wrote that "Song Hye-gyo became extremely popular [with the Asian public] after co-starring with Rain in the TV drama, 'Full House.' She also starred in 'My Girl and I,' as well as 'Hwangjinyi.' She was also cast in the director Sohn Su-beom's independent film which was also his U.S.A. debut, 'Fetish.'" Song also signed a new contract with Eden Nine, the Korean agency representing Won Bin. Won Bin and Song both plan on more active participation in the Asian entertainment industry.
