"Iljimae," a popular drama series on SBS which recorded an average viewer rating of 31.4%, will be aired in Japan. The drama series stars popular actor Lee Jun-ki. The satellite channel So-net TV, which specializes in introducing Hallyu drama series through "Asia Dramatic TV," plans to air Iljimae in Japan starting November 24. "Mawang," a popular drama series that was recently remade in Japan, as well as "Lobbyist" and "Gyeongseong Gibang Movie Theater" will also be aired in Japan. So-net TV opened an official website for Iljimae on October 10. It also plans to air a special documentary on the drama series on November 15.
Actor Lee Jun-ki, who is currently shooting the SBS drama series "Iljimae," is receiving significant support from his fans. According to the actor's management agency, Lee's fanclub "Lee Jun-ki Gallery" recently visited the production crew on location with 120 goodie bags and snacks. Each goodie bag contained useful items such as a towel, T-shirt, ice pack, cell phone accessory and socks. Prior to the surprise visit, the fan club also organized a barbeque party on location for the cast and staff of the show. Lee showed his deep appreciation by promising to deliver a great performance until the very last episode and thanked his fans for their constant support.
Lee Jun-ki, who currently stars in the SBS drama series "Iljimae," has decided to donate the entire bulk of his modeling fee paid by cosmetics brand VOV to children with cancer. Lee's management agency said Lee was recently chosen as the male model for the Korean cosmetics brand VOV's Fall catalog. It added it was the actor's heartfelt wish to donate the money he earned from modeling to children suffering from cancer. Meanwhile, VOV says it signed a one-year contract with Lee, saying he has a fresh and enigmatic look that goes well with the company's trendy image.
The popular drama series 'Iljimae' recently parodied the controversial press conference of singer Na Hoona. In the June 26th episode, a high-ranking official named Byeon Shik summons his men to the meeting room and storms at them for humiliating him. When his men feign ignorance, the enraged Byeon Shik jumps onto the table, takes off his official robe, pretends to take off his pants and yells, "Do I have to take off my clothes to prove to you just how serious I am?" Earlier this year in January, Na jumped onto the table during a press conference and tried to remove his pants to prove his innocence surrounding ungrounded rumors. Producers of the show said they decided to parody the scene as Byeon Shik is a comic character.
The viewer rating of the SBS TV drama “Iljimae,” starring Lee Jun-ki, has surpassed 20 percent for its 7th episode, cementing the show's position as the most popular Mon/Tues TV drama. According to AGB Nelson Media Research on Thursday, the average viewer rating of Iljimae’s Wednesday episode was higher than 20 percent. MBC’s “Spotlight” and KBS 2TV’s “Sisters in Love,” which also aired in the same slot, recorded viewer ratings of 10.1 percent and 10.5 percent, respectively. Iljimae’s Wednesday episode showed hero Yong-ee’s attempts to transform into Iljimae. Yong-ee, who falls into despair as he witnesses his long-lost sister being executed, vows to avenge his father’s death. There has been another change in the dynamics of the Wed/Thur TV dramas along with Iljimae's soaring popularity. “Women in the Sun” has begun to move ahead of Spotlight, albeit by small margins. Women in the Sun, starring Kim Ji-su and Lee Ha-na, is the newest drama among the three TV dramas. Although it has a typical story centered on the secret of a birth and good vs. evil, it has beaten Spotlight, starring Son Ye-jin, in its fifth episode. Spotlight, which revolves around the lives of news reporters, has been losing ground due to a number of complicated issues such as changes in writers and poor storyline and directing.
Actor Lee Jun-ki has stepped forward with his fans to help the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit the Sechuan Province in China. Lee's management agency said the gesture was his way of giving back the love and support he has been receiving from his Chinese fans. The actor--when he read the news that his Chinese fans had launched a campaign to collect 1 yuan coins for the quake victims--decided to begin his own relief campaign to collect one thousand won notes, equivalent to one U.S. dollar, with his Korean fans. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. Lee takes on the role of chivalrous thief Iljimae in the popular SBS drama series "Iljimae."
